Refining

The refining process serves to transform the oil the comes from the grinding department or the crude oils that are purchased into products that meet all the requirements for food or for the production of biodiesel.

At the Puerto Corsini plant there are three production lines, two of which are used only for producing edible oils from all kinds of seed oils (sunflower, high oleic sunflower, corn, peanuts, soybeans and canola) and one for the production of biodiesel from crude soybean and rapeseed oils.

The complete oil refining process consists of a series of steps (winterization, neutralization, bleaching, deodorization and inerting) designed to remove all the compounds that are not suitable for a food product (free fatty acids, pigments, heavy metals, pesticides, compounds odorous and oxidants). For the production of biodiesel, the process consists only of deacidifying and degumming the oil.

In the refining department there are two floors divided into the production of acid oils, by-products of the process.

The oil is then a refined product, which is stored in stainless steel tanks at the factory before being sold in bulk to customers or being bottled in the packaging department.
